Randolph Gray is a man with a passion for all things related to hair and beauty. Trained and successful in some of the most prestigious salons in the world he is now an International Educator for The Colomer Group and forms part of Eugene Soleiman’s prestigious team for International fashion catwalk shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris.
Some of the most prestigious catwalk shows in Randolph’s armoury are: Armani, Calvin Klien, Chanel, D & G, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Prada to name just a few. He has also led the Hair and Make up team for the last two Kenya Fashion Weeks held in Nairobi. Naomi Campbell and Ajuma are just a couple of the most recognisable models where Randolph’s Hair expertise is in demand.
Currently Randolph spends much of his time in Africa training and educating the next generation of African hair stylists but also encouraging the development of the hair and beauty industry from the catwalk to the local salon.
Education
Randolph was instrumental in creating the unique non-fee paying hair Academy in Nairobi. Regarded as probably the best in the whole of Africa, it is a real testament to how much energy and enthusiasm Randolph puts into his passion of passing on his knowledge and skills. The Academy is supported by the Shair Trust and has trained over 200 people whose only qualification to start the 1 year intensive course is to be passionate about hair and beauty. None of the students pay for the course and upon graduation leave with not only an internationally recognised certificate but also enough professional equipment for them to start work the next day – and many do. Currently over 75% of graduates are still working to support themselves and their families with many continuing their training and achieving further qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 3.
